I figured I should probably update this damn journal! I was going to do it a few weeks ago when I reached the 10K followers mark on Tumblr but I procrastinated too much and the 11K followers milestone has already arrived! It's been a little mind-bending how quickly that number has increased...

To be honest - for me at least - DeviantART seems to be a lot less active these days. Perhaps my perspective has been skewed by just how active I am on Tumblr, but I find myself interacting with people a lot less around here. I definitely feel that I post my art here as an afterthought, out of habit, than because I feel it would be a...productive?...thing to do. That's not to say that I don't appreciate every comment I get, because I really do! When people take the time to send a message or leave a comment on a picture it genuinely fills me with joy, and I'm glad that my artwork can provide a smidge of happiness in return! But I guess I just feel that DA is a little...stagnant?

I'll still continue to post my artwork here as always, but most of my attention will be directed towards Tumblr: pussycat-scribbles

Most of my art these days is Haikyuu!! related (because that stupid volleyball anime is ruining my life), but having a shiny new toy doesn't mean I've forgotten my old loves, like Sailor Moon and Harry Potter <3
Sorry I've been so quiet lately - I was diagnosed with a repetitive strain injury in my right wrist a few weeks ago and have been wearing a splint. I haven't touched any of my artwork since because I didn't want to aggravate the issue, although it wasn't drawing that caused the strain in the first place. Annoyingly I actually took this last week off work to focus on drawing, but instead I used the time to catch up on reading and relaxation - not what I wanted to do, but not exactly wasted time either!

I'm reaching the end of the recommended rest period so I hope to start doing some short drawing sessions in the next week or so. Hopefully I'll get back to normal soon! <3
If anyone is interested, I've made a post on Tumblr talking about the planning stages of my recent submission, RAY OF HOPE, which is available as a print as part of Autodesk Sketchbook's ART FOR HOPE: NEPAL charity project.

YOU CAN SEE THE FULL IMAGE AND BUY THE PRINT HERE!

Proceeds go to a really good cause!
For the curious, I've upgraded my computer and now it can handle recording whilst I run Photoshop! This is a vast improvement on before, where recording/streaming my desktop stopped me pretty much doing ANYTHING remotely interesting. My video editing skills leave a lot to be desired at this point in time (as in...I have no skills whatsoever omgJesustakethewheel). But I can learn. For now I've uploaded one time-lapse video to my Youtube channel using the tools I currently have available to me. Hopefully my future ones will be a lot more polished!

These will likely be uploaded a little while after I post the actual art on here, so if you want to be updated when I post a video either subscribe or follow me on Tumblr! <3

And I honestly don’t mean that in a “what the hell, stop bothering me” kind of way, I promise!  I’m genuinely curious to hear what you’d be interested to see me doing with my art.

I’ve been posting stuff online for over 10 years now and have gathered a sizable following (nearly 6.5K here and over 5K on Tumblr) without really, I don’t know, paying attention? Forcing the issue? I don’t actively advertise myself beyond just putting my stuff on personal blogs and accepting features to various DA groups, but somehow you’ve all managed to find me.  My top three tumblr posts have around 30K, 27K and 26K notes respectively, which to me is absolutely insane although unsurprisingly they’re all Sailor Moon re-draws. One thing I’ve never done is ask my followers what you guys are following me for - what it is you like.

It seems like a pertinent question with the rise in popularity of services like Patreon that allow artists to give their followers things they actually want in return for money outside of commissions. I’m in two minds about Patreon because whilst I think it’s awesome for allowing creative types to earn a living from their art, I find myself filled with selfish thoughts like “I’m missing out on so much cool stuff now because I don’t have the funds to support all the artists I love” - terribly hypocritical as an artist myself, I know, since I totally would have a Patreon if I could. Unfortunately it’s not an option for me to use - at least right now - since I have a full time non-arty job that I enjoy and drawing is really just a hobby that I fit around my personal life. I don’t have the time or resources to put together a full and worthwhile programme of stuff to give back to people who might support me D:

But I digress! Back to the main point of this post: what is it that you want, you guys? I want to know what you’d like to see more of - or less - from me! Consider this to be a bit of market research.

(Unless you want me to swear less, because that ain’t happening.)

TALK TO ME, PEOPLE!

I updated my commission prices and info to make things a bit clearer. Please read the artist's comments carefully!

I am tentatively accepting commissions, and by that I mean that I am very busy but will discuss on a case-by-case basis if you drop me a note. I can't accept every project that I'm approached about but I'm not going to say "no commissions at all" because that's silly.

Also my tablet pen is working fine again, hurrah!
I’m currently having the magical adventure that is my tablet pen not working

The actual tablet part is 100% fine, but the pen is having some sort of personal crisis. There has been a small improvement from not doing anything at all - no buttons, no clicking, no movement whatsoever - but now I’m stuck with jerky movement, right-click only (even though the nib is not assigned to right-clicking and never has been jesus christ) and still no buttons.

I took the whole thing apart and found some funky looking magnetic field generator and cat hair inside the SEALED body of the pen. Is NOTHING sacred in this house? I honestly have no idea what’s wrong with it. Perhaps I dropped it a little too hard and it stuffed up the circuit or something?

Whatever it was, no digital drawing for me! Good job I invested in all those Copic markers, eh? EH? I’m so frustrated. I’ve got commissions to work on! Also I do not want to drop £70 on a new pen right now. That’s not cool. I’m hoping if I leave it alone it will somehow get over itself and be ready to do its thing tomorrow.

*cries*

Happy New Year, guys! Sorry I'm a bit late, but I was busy doing birthday stuffs and trying to make the most of my remaining holiday time. Back to the office tomorrow...*tries to be excited*

Thank you all for the kind birthday wishes and nice messages! You're all wonderful!

I think the end to 2014 was pretty successful, drawing-wise, and 2015 is already off to a good start. I've got a daily diary with plain pages on the way and I want to try and do a traditional sketch a day to mix it up a bit. I can't promise I'll manage one every day this year, but I certainly want to try and expand my horizons.

I've also made a couple of my recent pictures available as prints on Society 6, if anyone is interested!

Fingers crossed for a good year!
Tomorrow is my ten year DevART anniversary.

Ten fucking years.

That's...not quite half my life, but it's not far off! And what a decade it's been. I wouldn't be who I am without the support of my followers and friends - you guys are really something  And finally pipped the 150K pageviews mark! Such good timing, although I'm bummed I missed it actually happening. Still, so amazing! *O* I remember when I joyfully celebrated 6K pageviews by drawing myself this beauty (you're not allowed to laugh). I've come a long way since then, but hilariously I've also come full circle since I'm now obsessing over exactly the same fucking thing, eight years later. I'd like to think this is deep and meaningful in some way, but in reality it probably means I haven't changed much since I was 16.

Anyway! To celebrate I've decided to finally get my arse in gear and make some prints available. I'd like to do things myself - eventually - but since I'm hopeless I'll use Society6 in the mean time.

My Society6 page is HERE!

I've only got 4 prints available so far - mostly Sailor Moon stuffs - but I'll gradually add to it over time.

Seriously, you guys. Ten years...

It's been a pleasure! May there be another productive ten years to follow :la:
[EDIT] Thank you for coming! Sorry about the chat problems - I'm fairly sure it was LS's end of things rather than mine.

www.livestream.com/rebellibrar…

I'm doing a short stream this evening, colouring the lineart I posted the other day.

Come and say hi!

www.livestream.com/rebellibrar…
Send me a PM if you're interested and we'll have a chat!

[EDIT] Added prices in Euros and US Dollars]

Although RL is pretty busy for me at the moment some extra money each month would go a long way to easing my mind with regards to bills, so I've decided to open commissions. I'll be keeping track of them here :meow:

- Payments upfront through PayPal only.
- Any character references you can provide would help greatly.
- With linearts and coloured pictures I'll provide a few sketched pose options to choose from before moving further.
- Won't do: gore, sexually explicit content, chibi and the usual squicks.
- Backgrounds aren't my strong point but I will give it a go!

For reference, prices in US dollars:

- Sketch: Standard 16$/Coloured $25 (+$16 per additional character for coloured AND uncoloured sketches)
- Ink: $65 (+$25 per additional character)
- Colour: $125 (+$35 per additional character)

For reference, prices in Euros:

- Sketch: Standard 12€/Coloured 18€ (+12€ per additional character for coloured AND uncoloured sketches)
- Ink: 50€ (+18€ per additional character)
- Colour: 90€ (+25€ per additional character)
Streaming for a little while. Trying to make some progress on a Chobits picture I started in 2011 *facepalm*

Possibly a bit NSFW because of her outfit (it's lingerie).

I've been deliberating over whether or not to change my username on here for a very long time now and today I finally decided it was time.

I've had this account for 8 and a half years and have made many friends and gathered a wonderful group of supportive followers in that time - all who know me mainly as "haiiro-no-tenshi", unless we interact on other websites. I was 14 when I joined DA, doing Japanese lessons after school for fun and just starting to get into manga. I thought I was being so cool and original, giving myself a Japanese-based name (we've all been there, right?). Except it was total bollocks and meant diddly squat and started to fill me with embarrassed horror after a few years. I was quite worried about losing that name recognition, which lead to me umming and erring for ages, but I feel that I've finally completely outgrown "haiiro-no-tenshi" both as an artist and as a person.

Or at least I hope so!

I went with my real name because I'm useless at thinking of stuff like this and figured it was the easiest/least potentially embarrassing option. I use my real name on Twitter and link back to here so it's not really that difficult to find out who I am anyway *shrug* I'm not too bothered about the possibility of RL stalkers and would rather start developing as an artist under a reasonable brand/name.

Bring on the next phase!
Happy new year, guys! :tighthug: I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and enjoyed new year's eve whatever you were doing!

I really just want to say thank you for all your support this year (and for all the time before, too!). I know 2012 wasn't the most active year for me, but a lot of changes were going on in my life (I'd graduated and started my first job, moved into my own flat and generally had a crash-course in being a Real Adult) and that didn't leave a lot of time to sit down and draw. I think I managed a grand total of about 8 pictures, which is pretty pathetic. Despite that, I received a lot of wonderful comments and support, which means a lot and it definitely helped inspire and encourage me

Although I don't generally make resolutions (I think that word is a jinx, sometimes :noes:), this year I really want to focus on my artwork and really try to improve. I've come a long way in the 8 years I've been a member here - damn, I feel old - but I've still got a hell of a lot to learn! My boyfriend spoiled me thoroughly at Christmas and built me a beast of a computer, so I will be livestreaming whenever I get a chance as it can actually run the damn procaster *pets poor laptop* Company is both welcome and appreciated, if anyone is interested! My mum bought me a light box, which means I'll also be drawing more by hand, too! :la: I'm so excited to use it!

I've had a few notes about commissions, which I'm considering opening in a few weeks' time. Perhaps I'll start with some hand-drawn sketches/lineart commissions first to get me motivated? I'll have a think, but keep an eye out for announcements if you're interested!

So yes, thank you all for your wonderful support *snuggles everyone* and here's to a year of productivity!

THANKS FOR COMING, GUYS! I'LL BE BACK TOMORROW FOR MORE COLOURING! Feel free to come and chat again if you don't mind my snail-pace drawing haha :la:

I'm going to be attempting a bit of Livestreaming today (hopefully more successfully than my last go!). I'll probably crack on with drawing in 10-15 minutes as I'm finishing off lunch and faffing :meow:

www.livestream.com/rebellibrar…

Come and say hi! I'll be doing the re-draw of Ariel.
Oooh, I hope this isn't too late :noes: I've been so busy recently, though! I'm very excited to have been asked to participate in this Secret Santa, and can't wait to get cracking on my assignment!

Onwards!

My only real criteria are that I'd like the picture to be bright, colourful and happy. As I'm not really one for creating original characters, I'm afraid I'll be sticking with fanart. From my gallery you might notice that I'm a big fan of long, flowing hair and frilly dresses, but those are just personal preferences :la: Below are my preferred choices for characters, but if something strikes you along the way (or you see something in my gallery you'd like to play with) please feel free to just have fun:

1) Sailor Moon. I'd like to see her in the princess outfit, but it's your choice if you prefer the Sailor outfits! mangastyle.net/book4/4-06-07-p… mangastyle.net/book4/nt4-060.j…

2) Disney's Ariel. I'm really not bothered if she's a mermaid or human.

3) Chii from Chobits. She has the most adorable outfits so if you find one you like, knock yourself out! (galleries: animeartbooks.net/series/21-ch… gallery.digik.net/gallery/172)

I think that should just about cover it! Have fun, whoever gets me!

FFFF-

A Daily Deviation for haiiro-no-tenshi.deviantart.co… ? WHAT IS THIS MADNESS?

Thank you so much, you guys! *squishes you all* This is so amazing! And completely unexpected!

:la:

I feel a bit overwhelmed haha <3 And even more guilty for not being so active right now BUT! BUTBUTBUT that is all set to change in the near future because I move into a shiny new flat in a couple of weeks and I will actually have A DESK.

I know, crazy isn't it?

A whole DESK all to myself. So I can actually use my tablet properly instead of having to balance it on books in bed *facepalm*

EEEE~ thankyouthankyouthankyou!

I'm really sorry I've not been very active lately (or online much at all...).

I've been working full-time which stops me drawing as much as I'd like to, and I'm currently lodging in a room that doesn't actually have a desk so it's quite difficult to actually use my tablet properly. Add in some family issues that keep me pretty distracted and it's not exactly an ideal mix for creativity.

Once I get my shit together I hope to be more active.

I miss you guys :tighthug:
