Hey guys, I've made the decision to shut down my DeviantART page. I will no longer be posting artwork here!

The 12 years I've been on this website have been a pretty good run, to be honest, and I'm honoured to have had the support of those that have followed me throughout my time here. Twelve years, nearly 300 pictures (not counting my scraps or stored images!), 263,000+ pageviews and nearly 8700 followers. Not too shabby!

Thank you so much for giving me your time and encouragement!

If you want to keep up with my art journey you can follow me on Tumblr, Twitter or Patreon.

All the best,
Emily

I figured I should probably update this damn journal! I was going to do it a few weeks ago when I reached the 10K followers mark on Tumblr but I procrastinated too much and the 11K followers milestone has already arrived! It's been a little mind-bending how quickly that number has increased...

To be honest - for me at least - DeviantART seems to be a lot less active these days. Perhaps my perspective has been skewed by just how active I am on Tumblr, but I find myself interacting with people a lot less around here. I definitely feel that I post my art here as an afterthought, out of habit, than because I feel it would be a...productive?...thing to do. That's not to say that I don't appreciate every comment I get, because I really do! When people take the time to send a message or leave a comment on a picture it genuinely fills me with joy, and I'm glad that my artwork can provide a smidge of happiness in return! But I guess I just feel that DA is a little...stagnant?

I'll still continue to post my artwork here as always, but most of my attention will be directed towards Tumblr: pussycat-scribbles

Most of my art these days is Haikyuu!! related (because that stupid volleyball anime is ruining my life), but having a shiny new toy doesn't mean I've forgotten my old loves, like Sailor Moon and Harry Potter <3

Wrist Injury

1 min read
Sorry I've been so quiet lately - I was diagnosed with a repetitive strain injury in my right wrist a few weeks ago and have been wearing a splint. I haven't touched any of my artwork since because I didn't want to aggravate the issue, although it wasn't drawing that caused the strain in the first place. Annoyingly I actually took this last week off work to focus on drawing, but instead I used the time to catch up on reading and relaxation - not what I wanted to do, but not exactly wasted time either!

I'm reaching the end of the recommended rest period so I hope to start doing some short drawing sessions in the next week or so. Hopefully I'll get back to normal soon! <3

If anyone is interested, I've made a post on Tumblr talking about the planning stages of my recent submission, RAY OF HOPE, which is available as a print as part of Autodesk Sketchbook's ART FOR HOPE: NEPAL charity project.

YOU CAN SEE THE FULL IMAGE AND BUY THE PRINT HERE!

Proceeds go to a really good cause!
